SPIMUN
2002
brought together about 500 delegates and teachers from Bahrain, Belarus,
Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, Germany, Greece,
Italy, Lebanon, Mexico, Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland,
Turkey, United Arab Emirates, USA. Russian participants were represented
by Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Moscow, and Saint-Petersburg MUN Groups.
The highlight
of the conference was the Opening ceremony, which took place in the famous
Taurida Palace, formerly the seat of the pre-revolutionary Russian parliament,
the Duma. The Opening ceremony was sponsored by city Committee of Education
and by the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent
States. The Commission sessions were held in gymnasiums 157, 2; schools
185 and 207; St.Petersburg University (Foreign Relations Department) and
Anichkov Palace.
